How to find the best facial plastic surgeon in Michigan

Finding the best cosmetic surgeon in Michigan is simple, if you know the right questions to ask.  Where did they go to medical school? How many years have they been in practice? Are they board certified in Facial Plastic Surgery? And better, are they double board certified, meaning they have passed both exams for facial plastics and reconstructive surgery and for Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery board certification.  Local hospital affiliations were another important criterion, but now many surgeons operate in free standing day surgery centers and are less reliant on major hospital connections.   I am a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, board certified in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.  I am affiliated with William Beaumont Hospital and operate at the Unasource Surgery Center in Troy Michigan.  I’ve been in practice for over 20 years and was educated at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.   I specialize in eyelid surgery, facelifts, rhinoplasty (“nose jobs”), earlobe revisions, and all other facial rejuvenation procedures, as well as non-surgical solutions.

Another important thing to consider is the length of time they’ve been in practice, and the library of ‘before and after‘ photos they are able to show you. Of course, most patients don’t give consent to show their pictures so my library is a small portion of my work. In my practice, photo consents are very optional to respect my patient’s wishes.

Facelift Before and After Photos

It is so important to carefully review the cosmetic surgery Before and After Galleries of any facial plastic surgeon you are considering.  Does their before and after photo gallery show men and women of similar facial structure and ethnicity as you?  Do the results look natural and appropriate to the facial structure of the individual? Is the end result balanced and natural?  Some people are looking to completely change the look of their face, with exaggerated lips or cheekbones, resulting in a distorted appearance.  I don’t do that in my practice.  I specialize in creating harmony and balance in your face, so you look refreshed and years younger.  It’s you, only better!

Eyelid Lifts and Solutions for Baggy or Droopy Eyelids

Nothing ages your face more than droopy, baggy eyelids.  That delicate skin under your eyes, the heavy lids that can even interfere with your sight, all of these contribute to making you look older than you are.  There is an effective procedure called “Blepharoplasty” that lifts and tightens the skin around the eye area, resulting in a more youthful and energetic appearance.  If people have told you that you look tired even when you feel great, this could be the solution for you!

What Is Recovery Like from Eyelid Surgery

One of the best things about eye lid lifts or eyelid lift surgery is that there are no obvious visible scars, and the recovery time for eyelid surgery is usually very quick.  Most people return to their normal activities in just a few days.   There is very little pain, but some swelling and bruising should be expected.  How quickly the swelling and bruising from your eyelid surgery goes away is a very individual thing.  For some, it can be a few days but others might expect up one to two weeks of slight discoloration.  We find that our patients are really happy with the outcome almost immediately.

How Long does an Eyelid Lift Last

The results from cosmetic eyelid surgery last a very long time, most often a lifetime, which is one of the reasons it has become so popular.  Some people choose to have it done in their 30’s, to allow them to age beautifully and look refreshed throughout their lives.  These patients usually have a hereditary component of droopy, hooded lids and or bags under their eyes.  Others wait until it becomes a noticeable issue, either from sagging and bags, or from visual impairment when the eyelid enters their visual field and blocks a portion of your sight.   Whatever age you choose to pursue eyelid surgery, you’ll want to discuss it thoroughly with your facial plastic surgeon, look at before and after photos, and discuss the specific outcome you are looking to achieve.

How Expensive is an Eyelid Lift – and Is Eyelid Surgery Covered By Insurance

Eyelid surgery will likely cost between $3000 to $5000 depending on your choice of surgeons and facilities.  It may be performed in the surgeon’s office, as I often do for the comfort of my patients, or it may be performed in an outpatient surgery center.  I have both options available to my patients, and my outpatient surgery center is located directly below my office.  There is an additional facility fee if the patient and surgeon agree to use the surgery center.   Your eyelid lift surgery may be covered by your insurance if your lids are impairing your vision to a measurable degree.  We’re happy to help you with any reports needed by your insurance company to investigate if they will cover your specific procedure.   We also participate with Care Credit, offering payment plans at low or no interest.  Many patients use this to take the cost factor out of their decision-making process.

Is there a non-surgical solution for droopy lids or undereye bags

Yes there are non-surgical solutions for early stages of sagging or bags with upper and lower eyelids.   This is not a ‘one size fits all’ solution though, and requires an experienced cosmetic surgeon like myself to select the right injectables and fillers, and apply them in a very precise way.   Many patients find it gives them enough of a lift to feel good and look rested, and the results may last 6 months or more.  Laser type devices can help lift brows and open your eyes but not to the same degree as surgery. For most people, it is a short term solution that eventually leads to the more permanent eyelid lift procedure.  Considering that we make eyelid lift procedures affordable, comfortable and quick recovery, it is often the preferred choice.   My mission is the best outcome that meets the needs of my patients, and so we will discuss all the options available to you.

Fixing Smile Lines with Smile Line Fillers

Smile lines respond so well to new dermal fillers and injectables and can take years off your appearance.  Often these lines make us look sad or droopy, and one visit can remove this downward drag on your appearance.  I combine materials to address the specific needs of each patient, but often we use Juvederm, Restylane, Versa, RHA 3 or 4, Radiesse, Sculptra or Juvederm Voluma, and often in combination with Botox, Dysport, Xeomin or Jeuveau or other injectables for fine lines and wrinkles.   The results are immediate and long lasting, usually lasting 12 to 18 months depending on the patient.

How Long Do Injectables and Dermal Fillers Last

We often use Hyaluronic Acid Fillers like Juvederm, Juvederm Voluma, Restylane, Versa, Boletero, RHA 2-4 or Non-HA fillers like Radiesse, Bellafill, or Sculptra.  These fillers can last 12 to 18 months or longer depending on which product, but results will vary for each patient depending on your facial structure and lifestyle.   Injectables like Botox, Dysport of Xeomin or Jeuveau are much different.  They work to smooth and relax the muscles on the forehead, around the mouth and eyes, and between the eyes.  You will see results in a few days which lasts 3 to 4 months or longer if you’ve been using these type of injections for a long time. Fillers have immediate results and can last 6-18 months or longer depending on the product.  Dr. Danish will choose the best injectables for you and will explain why and how long it will last. The important thing is to select an experienced doctor who understands your facial structure, and uses the right quantities, injection sites and products to create a lasting and effective result.

How Long Do Lip Fillers Last – What Is the Cost of Lip Filler

Lip Filler works to give fullness to thin or aging lips.  It can last up to 18 months, depending on the product used and the patient’s own original lip shape and fullness.   We use many of the same products that have been used for years on other areas of the face.  Lip fillers include Juvederm, Restylane, Boletero, Versa, RHA 3 and others.  Lip fillers can cost $300 or more depending on how much area is being treated.  The treatment is quick and you’ll feel just a mild discomfort from the injections, which most people describe as easier than a trip to the dentist.  Talk with Dr. Danish during your free consultation and discuss what results you can expect from your lip filler treatment. Not all lips are the same so some will need outlining and filling and others just filling. Dr. Danish will make sure you look balanced, real and great!

What is a Mini Face Lift

A minilift or mini facelift addresses the jowls and upper neck to provide a more uplifted and taut facial appearance.  It is perfect for those experiencing sagging and skin laxity, but not yet ready for a full facelift, which would be a more comprehensive lift of the entire lower face and neck.   The benefits of a minilift are faster recovery, tightening jowls and neck without major facelift surgery, and a younger look that does not signal you’ve had “work done”. Generally most facelifts focus on the lower face and neck. In my hands, it’s a 4 hour surgery under anesthesia for those with a lot of sagging in the middle of the neck or fullness throughout that needs contouring. You can get a resolution of early aging signs or an improvement of advanced aging signs with a minilift or customized extended minilift which is an hour or hour and a half surgery. For best results of the lower face and neck for those with advanced aging, I would recommend a facelift under anesthesia. Otherwise, you can get away with a minilift procedure under local and some sedation.

Is There A Non-Surgical Facelift

There are non-surgical treatments that will lift and tighten your skin and help improve your appearance, but they are not as effective or long lasting as a facelift or minilift.   The non-surgical facelift includes a combination of injectables and fillers, laser facial treatments, micro needling, ultrasound or radio frequency treatments, and skin care products that help restore the elasticity, volume and clarity of your skin.  A combination of these treatments will refresh your appearance but do require regular visits to maintain your results.   This can be a good alternative before a big event or holiday season, but it will not replace the truly age defying results you’ll have from a facelift or mini lift from an expert facial plastic surgeon. These procedures are very valuable when you start early or as an adjunct when you want to look your very best.

What is a Lunchtime Lift

A lunchtime lift ™ is a midface minilift performed in our offices in about one hour.  It is the least invasive – but still effective – way to lift your midface, cheeks, lower lids and jowls.  My patients love it because of the reduced recovery time and the truly natural results they achieve.  After just a few weeks, people remark that they look rested and youthful without ever looking pulled or tight.  The incisions are hidden in the scalp and heal quickly, with patients feeling no need to worry about concealing anything.   Come In and discover if you are a candidate for a Lunchtime Lift.  It’s a great solution for men and women over 40 who want a lift the middle portion of their face and look natural. I focused on this lift at the time when people were getting lower facelifts and necklifts and ignoring the middle portion of their face. As a result, people looked deformed…what we in facial plastic surgery call a lateral sweep deformity. Luckily, with education and employing an aesthetic eye, my patients looks fully rejuvenated and natural. My injectable lunchtime lift, performed in less than an hour, is an alternative to the surgical version with less downtime to restore the midface volume and lift using injectables such as radiesse, voluma, sculptra or bellafill.

How Much Does A Mini Facelift Cost

A minilift, mini facelift or lunchtime lift will start at $4500 depending on the specific needs of your unique facial structure.  Often these procedures are performed in office under a local anesthetic and some sedation, which can significantly reduce the cost.  We participate with Care Credit which offers payment plans with low or no interest charges.  This is a great way to look younger and more refreshed before you are ready for a full facelift.

When Is The Right Time For A Facelift

The right time is completely up to you.  If you look in the mirror and see your mother or father looking back at you, it could be time for a facelift.  People often say they get to a point where they hate looking in a mirror, or their outward appearance doesn’t match up with their internal energy.  When you feel your outside is older than your inside, it’s probably time for a facelift or a mini lift.  Let’s get together and discuss your options. It is only a week or two of your life, but you’ll enjoy the benefits for years to come.

How Do I Get Rid Of My Turkey Neck or Double Chin

There are several truly effective options to reduce or remove that unsightly baggy skin under your chin.   First, we examine the source of the problem.  Is it a build up of fatty tissue, or is it skin elasticity that is the problem?  Did you lose a lot of weight that resulted in loose skin in your face and neck? For many people, it is simply heredity.   Based on our consultation, we’ll discuss the appropriate treatment plan for you.  We’ll discuss injectable solutions that dissolve fat stored in the area, liposuction of the under-chin area, RF treatments to tighten the skin, and if needed, discuss surgical solutions to lift the neck and jawline to return your more youthful profile.   We only do as much as is needed to achieve your best result.   The one thing I can say for certain is, waiting is not going to help!  If it bothers you when you look in the mirror, it’s time to take care of it.
